NEO Range
EPD for Aluminium Frames with an Internationally Relevant Environmental Product Declaration.
The ALsistem group goes GREEN, reaffirming its commitment to sustainability by obtaining the EPD®️ certification for its products. This achievement marks the culmination of a journey that began in 2011, with the coining of the term “Neocycled” and the registration of the NEO brand.
The Environmental Product Declaration (EPD®️) is an optional document that details the environmental impacts of a specific product, in accordance with the international ISO 14025 standard.
Thanks to the EPD®, it is possible to compare various EPD® declarations, enabling an objective comparison of the environmental performance of products within the same category.
The NEO Range by Meral SpA includes 10 eco-sustainable aluminium systems for window and door frames, divided into:
- 5 hinged series: Planet NEO 62 UP, Planet NEO 72 PLUS, Eco-slim NEO 62 UP, Eco-slim NEO 72, and 3G NEO UP.
- 2 sliding window and door series: Slide NEO 106 Plus and Top Slide NEO 160 UP.
- 1 curtain wall system: Sirio NEO 50.
- 2 entry door systems: Door NEO 62 and Door NEO 72.
What makes the NEO Range particularly innovative and sustainable is its composition: each system in the range is made with recycled aluminium, providing an eco-friendly solution without compromising efficiency or product quality.
The NEO products of the ALsistem group are manufactured with up to 85% regenerated aluminium. Recycling aluminium scraps plays a crucial ecological role, significantly reducing CO2 emissions from 8 kg of CO2 per kg of aluminium produced to just 0.25 kg (32 times less).
During the recycling process, aluminium retains nearly all its properties, such as strength, ductility, and durability, making it an ideal model for a circular economy and a key player in decarbonisation. These are two cornerstone principles of the ecological and energy transition supported by the European Union (Green Homes Directive).
Aluminium is not found in its pure form in nature but is extracted from other minerals (bauxite) through a process that requires 13 kWh of energy per kilogram.
Recycling aluminium provides both economic and environmental benefits, saving 95% of the energy and preventing the release of 250 million tons of CO2 into the atmosphere each year (data from the WEP – World Economic Forum).
Today, the NEO offering is further enhanced by the use of next-generation polyamide containing up to 100% recycled polymer, in addition to optimizing the thermal insulation performance of ALsistem systems.
Sustainable Aluminium Frame Systems
Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM): Essential Requirements for Eco-Friendly Products in Public Tenders.
The PAN GPP and Meral SpA’s Eco-Sustainable Frame Systems: Energy Efficiency and CAM Compliance
The National Action Plan on Green Public Procurement (PAN GPP) has established the Minimum Environmental Criteria (CAM) for each product category, applicable to purchases and supplies intended for Public Administration. In the construction sector, CAM places particular emphasis on the materials used for building construction and renovation.
Meral SpA offers a range of eco-sustainable and energy-efficient aluminium frame systems, known as the NEO RANGE. All four series in the NEO Range are certified with the EPD® (Environmental Product Declaration), ensuring compliance with CAM Requirement 2.4.1.2, which mandates the use of recovered or recycled raw materials.
